Tales of the Vanir

This section will house the stories and histories of the Vanir as they are shared with me. In the existing lore we have very little extant regarding the history of the Vanir. I believe that there is a school of thought that holds they may have been the tribe honored before the practice of worshipping the Æsir migrated into the northern regions of Europe. It makes a lot of sense considering the lore we have that mentions them. There may be some disagreement regarding some of the beings that I have labeled as Vanir but if you, dear reader, give me half a chance then perhaps you will find the tales I share a plausible explanation for such classifications.

I must reiterate that much of what you will read is UPG. I will endeavor to tie in at least the essence of what exists in our current lore whenever possible. However, some of the nuances are just not true and I believe that the stories will prove that. I will add to this area of the website as the Vanes share their history and customs. Again, if it doesn’t click for you that is fine. Perhaps they will disclose to you another way to look at it. If so, please do not hesitate to share. I would love to hear what insights they have blessed onto others.

The main beings associated with the Vanir are those most famous: Freyja, Freyr, Njörð, Nerþus, Heimðallr, Sif, and Ullr. In addition, I include Oðr, the Nine sisters who raised Heimðall (not to be confused with his mothers), and a few others as well. As I dive into this new area of my faith I hope you will come along and enjoy the ride with me.
