Viðar is the son of Oðin and the jotuness Grídr. Known as a highly skilled warrior he is cited as being nearly as strong as Þor. We do not have a lot of surviving lore about him aside from the one story in Ragnarök. Below are two prayers I composed to honor him after he contacted me for a chat. Funnily enough it happened in a grocery store where he got really excited about waffles for an offering. Go figure!

Counselor for the All-father

Avenger, Huntsman, Woodsman

I honor you this day

Walk with me that I show wisdom in all my counsel and bring honor to my path

Warrior, I give you hail and thanks!

A second invocation looks like this –

Viðar, son of Oðin – All-father,

Silent Ás, Huntsman, Woodsman, Counselor

You whom avenge your father,

Guide well my path as through the woods of life I travel

Lend your counsel and aid as I face my own trials.
