As a woman who follows a primarily Norse path it may seem odd to have bits and pieces that are tied to other pantheons. I view it more as divine inspiration that I have the opportunity to share.
This bit was written back in 2010 when we were having a bit of a dry spell here in Ohio. I was tending my plants and noticing how wilted they were becoming. I could hear how thirsty they were. Tapping into my Taurean-earth roots I suddenly became filled with these words. A letter of love and longing from the Earth Mother to the Lord of Rain. I wrote them down to read them out loud and about a day or so later we received the rain we had been lacking. Was the letter the cause? Only the gods know. 🙂
The names can be changed to suit any pantheon, really. The names only came to me like this as an afterthought.
Taranis, my love,
I call to you.
Your embrace has not enclosed my poor body for so long. Where are you?
Can you not feel how I ache for you?
How I burn for your cool touch?
My dearest, even now I feel my very womb withers without you.
Your voice has not called out to me, your footsteps are not heard.
Oh love of mine, where have you gone?
Our children miss you, and ask for you.
Their sweet young bodies slowly weaken without you.
Can you not hear their cries? Can you not sense their distress?
Oh, how I miss the sight, the sound, the feel of you.
My passion for you has not ebbed in all this time.
I feel our bond, once so strong now slowly fading.
Do not stay so far from me.
My heart, my soul, my body long for you.
Hurry back to me, your lover, your friend.
I want you.
I need you.
Come, hold me in your arms once more and bring me back to life.
Come home, Taranis, come home
I await you…
Ever your beloved,
Erda
