I wrote this in 2013 after waking up from a nap with words buzzing around my head. It is based on the cadence of the “Our Father who art in heaven…” prayer.
I feel the need to post it here in case there is anyone that could use it. Feel free to adjust wording as you see fit.
Our Mother, who does surround us
Sacred you are to us
Your air we breathe, your wells we drink
Your body we shelter upon.
Nourish us with your arms and love
Be patient with our thoughtlessness
As we relearn the
paths of our ancestors.
Turn not your face from us in despair,
But teach us to find hope in you:
For you’re always reborn,
Bringing new life, bringing new joys,
Year after year without end. Hail (or Awen if that is your thing).
