Dísirblot – Northern Mysteries Protogrove, ADF February 2016

Initiating the Rite-

  1. Statement of Purpose
    1. Today we are gathered to honor our beloved Dísir and Hearth Goddesses. Their roles in our lives are not played out only when we call upon them but in every nuance of our day to day existence. Yule has passed as has mid-Winter. The households have picked up their work once more as we see that Spring will indeed return to the land. Our Dísir are the women of our lines going back to the very beginning. These ladies are not just our blood-kin but also those who have played a role in the forming of who we are today. Recognizing them is an honor for those present here and with our voices and offerings we give back a small token for all they do for us every day.

It is also a time to honor the deities of the hearth. These goddesses have many names:  Frigg, Holda, Hretha, Matronae, among others. They watch over our homes and our families and help us to weave happiness and frith into the connections we build.

In our rite today we will be honoring both of these groups as well as doing a working with them for the continued connection and building of our hearths.
