Stories Untold – Modern day Myths

The Threads of the Tapestry: Welcome to the Hearths

The ancient gods do not live in a single kingdom, nor do they speak with a solitary voice. The roots of old magic run deep beneath the soil of many lands, rising up through the hearth-fires of different peoples, different languages, and different ways of seeing the cosmos. Whether you find your spirit anchored in the bone-deep frost of the North, the mist-shrouded green hills of the West, or the sun-drenched marble and deep shadows of the Mediterranean, there is a seat kept for you here. This space has been intentionally redesigned to separate the unique currents of these distinct traditions—offering a dedicated sanctuary for the Norse and Heathen gods, the Celtic and Irish mysteries, and the timeless, sovereign powers of the Greek pantheon.

As you step across these thresholds, you will find that these are not merely academic re-tellings of familiar tales or cold translations of textbook lore. While firmly anchored in the historic architecture of the surviving sources, these stories are alive. They are sometimes heavily shaped by Unverified Personal Gnosis (UPG)—the quiet, intimate insights that only surface through years of direct devotional practice, listening in the garden, and sitting with the spirits in the dark. Beside the ancient fragments, you will encounter modern myths and intuitive work designed explicitly to fill the vast, painful gaps left behind by time and historical loss. These writings do not treat the lore as a dead artifact to be preserved in amber, but as an ongoing, living conversation between the powers that be and the human spirit.

This section will hold three types of tales:

  1. Retellings of existing myths with a new twist or understanding.
  2. New myths that use existing knowledge of our cosmology mixed with a dash of UPG and a pinch of creative license to fill in gaps or create all new modern mythology.
  3. Interviews and conversations that these beings request I publish.

Retellings will probably be very familiar to the average reader. I will embellish a bit, fill in a few details, maybe give it a modern feel in attempts to breath new life, and possibly new understandings, of these beautiful stories. Not everyone will like my take on these, and honestly that is their prerogative. If I am rewriting familiar tales there is probably a darn good reason so take that as you will.

New myths are just like they sound. These will be stories and tales that are based in regular experiences which lead to filling in missing details within our lore. Sometimes I will be able to link it up to existing material. Other times it is going to be way out in left field so just jump on the hay wagon and enjoy the ride.

Be forewarned that not all stories under this section will be of Scandinavian/Nordic origin. You may see some names that are quite different than what you have seen in the Poetic and Prose Eddas. Regardless of which type, or pantheon, shows up here, all of them are inspired by an interaction I have had with a God/Goddess/Spirit/Ancestor/etc. I agreed to share their story and did my best to bring it life the way they showed it to me. Hopefully you as the reader will gain something from my efforts, or at least be taken away for a few minutes of well earned delight. And I promise you all the feels whenever I can bear to put them to page.

Finally, yes, I am still primarily a Norse practitioner with a focus on the Vanir, but sometimes other gods/goddesses plop down in my office and want to raise a pint, or a coffee, with me. Who am I to say no?

Happy reading!
