🎙️ New Ramblings Through Vanaheim episode available now – Midsummer

There are some stories that refuse to stay simple no matter how many times we tell them.

Baldr’s tale is one of those stories.

On the surface, it’s a tragedy. A beloved god has terrible dreams, a mother attempts to outmaneuver fate itself, a single oversight changes the course of history, and Ragnarök quietly begins to stir beneath the feet of the gods.

But once you begin sitting with the story for a while, other questions start to emerge. What if Frigg knew more than she ever admitted? What if Loki’s role was more complicated than villainy? What happens when we stop treating mythology as a fixed collection of facts and allow ourselves to explore the spaces between the words?

For this Midsummer episode of Ramblings Through Vanaheim, I retell the full story of Baldr while weaving together historical sources, modern heathen practices, and add some personal gnosis to fill in the gaps along the way. This isn’t an attempt to rewrite the lore or declare new truths. It’s an invitation to remember that these stories were once part of a living tradition that was spoken aloud, debated, questioned, and continuously revisited.

Sometimes the greatest gift mythology offers us isn’t certainty. It’s permission to wonder. So if you’ve ever found yourself staring at a passage and thinking, “There has to be more here,” this episode is for you.

Grab your favorite drink, settle in for a while, and let’s wander a little farther beyond the walls of Asgard together.
